Peter Ludlow (born January 16, 1957), who also writes under the pseudonym Urizenus Sklar, is a philosopher of language. He was a professor of philosophy at Northwestern University from 2008 to 2015.〔http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/nov/03/northwestern-professor-peter-ludlow-resigns-sexual-harassment〕〔http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/peter-ludlow-resigns-northwestern_5638f2c7e4b079a43c04c6c7〕 Before moving to Northwestern, Ludlow taught at University of Toronto, the University of Michigan, and the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He has done much interdisciplinary work on the interface of linguistics and philosophy—in particular on the philosophical foundations of Noam Chomsky's theory of generative linguistics and on the foundations of the theory of meaning in linguistic semantics. He has worked on the application of analytic philosophy of language to topics in epistemology, metaphysics, and logic, among other areas. Ludlow has also established a research program outside of philosophy and linguistics. Here, his research areas include conceptual issues in cyberspace, particularly questions about cyber-rights and the emergence of laws and governance structures in and for virtual communities, including online games. In recent years Ludlow has written nonacademic essays on hacktivist culture and related phenomena such as Wikileaks. Ludlow officially resigned from his position at Northwestern〔http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/peter-ludlow-resigns-northwestern_5638f2c7e4b079a43c04c6c7〕 in November 2015 amid accusations that he had inappropriate relationships with female students. Because of the same accusations, a 2013 job offer to Ludlow from the Center for Cognitive Science at Rutgers University was also rescinded.〔http://chronicle.com/article/A-Professor-a-Graduate/231007/〕 Following the controversy, Ludlow plans to move to Mexico and work independently.〔http://chronicle.com/article/A-Professor-a-Graduate/231007/〕 Northwestern has received media attention for the way it handled the Ludlow accusations, with many students expressing outrage that Ludlow was allowed to teach after allegedly sexually harassing a student,〔http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/03/05/peter-ludlow-protests_n_4899482.html〕 and one fellow Northwestern professor (Laura Kipnis) controversially〔http://chronicle.com/article/A-Professor-a-Graduate/231007/〕 suggesting that young women should be responsible for their own decisions about whether to date or have sex with a professor.〔http://chronicle.com/article/Sexual-Paranoia-Strikes/190351〕 Ludlow denies any wrongdoing,〔http://chronicle.com/article/A-Professor-a-Graduate/231007/〕 claims that his relationships with female students were consensual〔http://chronicle.com/article/A-Professor-a-Graduate/231007/〕 and argues that there is nothing wrong with age differences in relationships.〔http://chronicle.com/article/A-Professor-a-Graduate/231007/〕 ==Education== Ludlow received his PhD in philosophy from Columbia University in 1985 under the direction of Charles Parsons, but also studied with Noam Chomsky and James Higginbotham at MIT. He received his B.A. in 1979 from Bethel College. 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Peter Ludlow」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
